OF "I CAN'T" Age
18-30 "I can't save now. I'm
just getting my start in life. I don't make a lot of money yet and
I'm entitled to a little fun while I'm young. There is plenty of
time. Wail until I start making a little more -- then I'll
save." Age 30-45 "I
can't save now. I've got a growing family on my hands.
Children and a house sot a lot of money. It takes all to keep them
going. As soon as they are a little older, it will cost less.
Then I'll save." Age 45-55 "I
can't save now. I have two kids in college. It's all I can do
to pay their expenses. In fact, I had to borrow for their tuition
last fall. This is the most expensive period in a person's
live. I can't save a penny now."
Age 55-65 "I
can't save now. I know I should. But things aren't breaking
like they were. It's not easy for a person my age to step out and
get a better job now. I'll have to ride along where I am.
Maybe something will break soon." Age
65: "I can't save now.
I've living with my daughter and her husband. My $800.00 per month
Social Security does not go far. I wish I had started saving 20
years ago. But it's too late now. I cannot save when there isn't any
income."
Where are you now and where will you
be???
With modern medicine, people are living
longer - way longer. There is always someone in the paper
celebrating their 100th birthday. I'm shooting for 100 years
old. And let's say hypothetically I retire at age 70 (in another 50
years - wink), then my savings has to last for 30 years. 30
years!!! So if I want to continue my lifestyle and riding my Harley
into the sunset, I better have a heck of a lot of money saved.
In my retirement for entertainment -- Would
I rather spend my retirement on my bike or on a park bench.? I pick
the bike. So how about you?
Where will you be? On your
Bike? On the Beach? Or on a park bench?
